Programme design and management

ACT Ubumbano Planning and facilitation support for ACT Ubumbano’s convening of community-based activists, local and national formal civil society organisations and international NGOs focused on building and strengthening the practice of community organising and solidarity.

South Africa Media Innovation Programme (SAMIP) Ongoing monitoring, evaluation and learning support through a medium-term (4-year) accompaniment process.

Isandla Institute Planning and monitoring support for a Comic Relief-funded consortium advocating around informal settlement upgrading in the Cape Town Municipality and wider Western Cape Province.

Western Cape Government Facilitated a programme design process in partnership with the Spar Group and Southern Africa Food Lab to design a programme to set up agri-hubs for smallholder farmers in the Western Cape.

DG Murray Trust Supported the development of the Youth Capital Campaign (youth-led campaign on unemployment) strategy and communications.

Research and evaluation

RAITH Foundation Civil society sector scoping to better understand the social justice sector in South Africa and assess the impact and utility of their Social Justice Review Report.

Constitutionalism Fund Impact Evaluation of the South African basket fund of the Ford Foundation, Open Society Foundation, and Atlantic Philanthropies.

Budget Justice Coalition Evaluation and theory of change development.

Lima Jobs Fund End of phase evaluation for the national smallholder farmer support programme.

ELMA Foundation of South Africa Review of their investment and programme frameworks for the constitutionalism portfolio.

Institute of International Education Review of the global alumni engagement strategy for the Ford Foundation’s former International Fellowship Program, who are now participants in a 10-year tracking study as part of the IFP legacy. Development of associated communications strategy and content plan.

Equal Education Law Centre Review of the impact and external perception of the organisation to inform strategic planning

Tshintsha Amkhaya Supported an evaluation of the alliance’s most recent phase of work.

Umthombo Street Children Completed the final evaluation of the impact and key learning from the Completing the Cycle programme.

Positive Vibes Trust End of project evaluation of the Amplify Change-funded Regional Networking Grant.

Open Society Foundation-South Africa 25-year reflection and review.

Isandla Institute Reviewed and made recommendations on the virtual management of the Good Governance Learning Network.

CARE International Scoping study to recommend an engagement strategy in South Africa.

Oxfam Australia Researched and wrote two learning papers examining critical aspects of the Oxfam Australia programme in South Africa to document and share best practices.

 

Process support

Open Society Foundation-South Africa Moderation of the OSF-SA civil society roundtable on supporting protected disclosures in South Africa.

Positive Vibes Trust Facilitated a consultation process towards the setting up of an advocacy platform for ‘key populations’ (MSM, sex worker and transgender networks specifically) to advocate for human rights and protections on the African continent.

ACT Alliance Facilitated a two-day planning session to develop a community mobilisation/activist support initiative.

Seed and Knowledge Initiative (SKI), Southern Africa Documented the SKI partner meeting and mid-term review feedback process. 

The Southern Africa Food Lab Facilitated the ‘Food and Nutrition Design Lab’ to build intersectional partnerships to enable the Western Cape Household Food Security and Nutrition Strategy and a planning process for establishing a smallholder farmers market/hub in the Western Cape.
